Wow... it's a trip how much response people have put into this article. I don't see why the district has problems with facial piercings, they really aren't all that distracting. At first, you think "wow... thats kind of cool" but then after a few seconds of looking at it, it becomes boring once more. As for music, I don't see the harm in it. It stimulates the mind, and as long as you can't hear it from across the room, and the person is diligently doing their work, I really see no problem with them. As for respect, yeah, perhaps she should have been a tad bit more respectful. Swallow the pride and realize they were kids once too... hopefully when WE realize that, they will remember that as well.

While I understand the rules against Ipods and piercings, I don't like them very much. To think that a piercing could be distracting in any way is too absured to comprehend, especially in today's society. As for the topic of Ipods, I do understand the reasons for not allowing them, but when there is little to no reason to restrict students from using such devices, why do it at all? Any type of alarm would be noticed rather quickly regardless of music blasting in your ears or not.
Personally, I like to listen to music while working. It keeps me focused and blocks out classroom chatter that would otherwise distract me. I like piercings. On certain people it looks good and I don't know of a single person that has ever been distracted or in any way offended by a piercing.
